About
The design for Calistoga Motor Lodge & Spa is truly inspired by the nostalgia surrounding the great American road trip. During the 50s, 60s & 70s, families & friends would pack up the car – or even better, camper van or motor home – and travel throughout the country to National Parks, amusement parks, summer camps, and everything in between.
Certainly this retro nod is evident through the color palette – full of navy & light blues, mustard yellow, shades of green – woven & striped fabric selections, and furniture & lighting styles ranging from mid-century through the 1970s. The interiors, as well as the brand identity, gleaned inspiration from graphic moments one might encounter during mobile adventuring, such as gas stations and truck stops, faux wood paneled vehicles, sports uniforms, etc., while much of the guest experience and styling moments feature ‘analog’ leisure of decades past, such as hula hooping and jump rope.

Secluded in the back of the lush property grounds lies the hotel’s spa, modeled after a classic bathhouse, and puts a quirky spin on mineral baths and therapies from around the world. The spa features seven treatment rooms, a playful “mix your own” mud bar, bathing room with four mint green claw foot tubs for medicinal salt soaks, a menu of cutting-edge facials, coed mosaic-lined steam room and outdoor spa relaxation garden. The hotel’s spa boutique offers a selection of revitalizing products which guests can enjoy at home.
The hotel and spa brings a new, unbuttoned experience to Napa Valley, with rooms that take cues from vintage camper vans, poolside analog games and a whimsical spa anchored by geothermal mineral water-fed pools.

Small Town General Store
The lobby lounge is a balance between small town general store and 1970s living room. A pair of green velvet sofas and fireplace provide a cozy area for guests to relax and unwind. The space also features a vintage-style cooler with beverages and snacks, as well as games for the pool, in-room, or on the road. A retail and sundries concept with goods from both local and recognized apparel brands create a welcoming communal space.

Glam Camper Van
The guest rooms harken back to mid-century motor lodges across the country, featuring bold carpet, vintage inspired fabrics, quirky retro art moments, camper van style bench seating (that doubles up by transforming into a double bed!) and graphic tiled bathrooms.
The in-room dining table is on a hydraulic base, which can be lowered to create a platform for a sleeping surface as well as serve as a table for dining and working, similar to what you would find in a camper van.
