Located in Dallas' Uptown district, Nuri is a luxurious and elevated steakhouse concept merging Eastern philosophies of cooking and culture with Western design and traditions. Among a sea of high-end steakhouses, Nuri provides a unique perspective on this American staple by merging Korean flavors and Asian cooking techniques with Texas steakhouse cuisine and culture.

The restaurant is divided into several unique experiences, including a bar/lounge, an intimate yet energetic formal dining room, an outdoor dining patio, private dining rooms, and a wine vault offering tastings from the robust wine selection. A private members club also onsite holds a dedicated bar and lounge, offering access to rare or limited-edition spirits, special tasting menus, and tailored service for each member.

Deco Era meets Cyberpunk Culture

The restaurant's design embraces Deco-era geometric forms and volumes juxtaposed with cyberpunk culture inspiration, which is used to infuse an edginess to the space and nod to the popularity of digital gaming in modern Asian culture.

The lavish, fantastical space makes liberal use of curvaceous shapes and soft fabrics throughout the restaurant, re-interpreting Art Deco forms through a modern lens, while the supporting wood, metals, and stones are elevated, crafted, and distinctly detailed.

Main Dining Room Glamour

Wrapped in warm-stained glossy oak, the soft and flowing forms of the main dining room create a series of smaller dining nooks that provide intimacy while sharing sight lines and spreading energy throughout. Large, elegant, fluted columns in the middle of the dining room are crowned with curved, ribbed glowing resin, and add an Art Deco glamour to the dining room.

Members Only

Clad in walnut burl wood, metal trims, and glossy reds and maroons, the Member's Only room was designed with exclusivity in mind. A large feature fireplace clad in blood-red stone warms the room. Opposite, an AvroKO-designed, brass metal and mirror illuminated installation is layered in front of a hand-painted DeGournay wall covering of ancient dwarf trees and iridescent gold, adding both elegance and sparkle to the room. The large AvroKO-designed chandeliers hanging below a solid brass tiled reflective ceiling cove are inspired by the largest of heat sinks, with radiating fins made of brass that surround a glowing core. Hanging beads and reflective surfaces add a decorative softness to an otherwise gritty mechanically-inspired design.

The PDR has large sliding pocket doors that keep it connected to the dining room or allow for total privacy, with another hidden door for entries and exits by celebrities and VIPs wanting or needing discretion. Gold DeGournay hand-painted crane wall coverings and a watery carpet pattern provide textures of Asia and influences
of Korea, while oversized custom light fixtures and reflective surfaces speak to the edginess of cyberpunk culture.

The Member’s Room offers private access to exclusive and rare spirits, special tasting menus, and unique programming.

In the true spirit of Korea, sliding millwork panels reveal a fully-equipped karaoke screen and integrated A/V setup for those lucky or special enough to stay after hours

Beyond Deco

With Deco informing much of the architecture, the design also pulls inspiration from traditional Korean celadon ceramics, especially as seen in the color and textures throughout the venue as well as the details found in the custom, AvroKO-designed light fixtures and furniture throughout. In an unexpected design move, digital gaming culture of modern Asia can be seen in the shaped metals and high reflectivity in the light fixtures and architectural finishes, nodding to the influences of computer parts, including digital board patterns and metal heat sinks, needed to distribute energy and heat generated from computing culture.
